Aaron J. Dinkin received his Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. He pursues research in sociolinguistics and language variation and change, focusing particularly on dialect geography and the structure of sound change in North American English. He has published research on the dialects of Upstate New York (his primary research area), New England, Philadelphia, the inland South, and Toronto, and is looking forward to adding southern California to that list.
